GATHERINGS 2023 IS HAPPENING IN THE TOWNS OF HALLS GAP AND ST ARNAUD IN SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
GATHERINGS 2022
ACT Natimuk was successful in a proposal to produce an outdoor activation project for the Northern Grampians Shire Council.
The project, ‘Gatherings 2022’ invited community and visitors alike to take a journey of projections, light, movement and sound, revisiting the arts and culture each town already has to offer but from a new perspective.
Gatherings 2022 started off with Out of the Box in Stawell on Friday 27th May. Produced by Jacinda O’Sullivan, Stawell was a streetscape of live action, performance, music, art, installations and sound. Physical theatre artists 5 Angry Men presented their jaw dropping performance work The Bells in the evening after earlier street roving.
A two week break to catch the breath before producer Jillian Pearce surprised and amazed in Halls Gap on Saturday 11th June with The Moth Trail. An outdoor light and projection trail developed with Artists and the Halls Gap community.
St Arnaud Lights On, produced by Mary French. It provided an opportunity to check out the evocative, interactive augmented reality that celebrates some of St Arnaud’s iconic murals during the day on Friday 17th June and continues after dark on Saturday 18th June in the Town Hall precinct, where you can discover images, animation, colours and sounds breathing life into unexpected places.
Great Western rounded up the festival on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th with New Vintage, produced by Verity Higgins – a fresh, outdoor, big-screen event, launching photos of local characters in the wine industry followed by the just released, award-winning film Blind Ambition.
